In 1998, David Swift Phinney founded Orin Swift Cellars. He first took interest in winemaking after learning about the process when he lived in Florence, Italy. Upon returning to the United States, David worked at a winery for several years until deciding to start his own. Orin Swift Cellars started with only two tons of Zinfandel, and David spent the next decade making wine for others, as well as himself and grew the brand to what it is today.
